OBITUARY

Alfred Alexander Rumple

April 9, 1942January 6, 2020

On Monday, January 6th, 2020, our father, Alfred Alexander Rumple, passed away at the age of 77. He was born on April 9th, 1942, in Baltimore City, Maryland to Ethel Bryant Marshall and Ralph Rumple, who proceeded him in death. Also proceeding him death was his loving wife, Evelyn Casey Rumple, and a son, Keith Rumple. He is survived by several children and grandchildren. His surviving children are Carl Jackson Rumple, Eric Scott Rumple, Keven Dale Rumple (wife Rhona), Maura Kathleen Page, Christopher Michael Page, Alice Irene Erdelt (husband Andrew), and Deborah Sue Fortner (husband Tim). He has several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a kind, generous, caring man who always had room for one more at his table. After serving over 20 years in the Air Force, he retired and went to get an Associate Degree, which is when he met the love of his life, his wife, Evelyn Rumple. With Evelyn, he welcomed three more children into his life with open and loving acceptance. He was always thinking of all his children, no matter where any of our travels took us. He was quick to step up and help a friend, a neighbor, or anyone. After getting married to Evelyn, he worked for the state of Texas as a Correctionals Officer, which he retired from. Then not being able to stay still, began working as a security guard part-time during his retirement. He worked up until a heart attack and lung cancer caught up with him. His hobbies included wood working, drinking coffee, watching Star Trek series, gardening, playing computer games, reading westerns and Clive Cussler, and rock hounding. As a side note, I will miss watching him eat and listening to him make his jokes. His humor and quirky outlook on life will always be missed, but always cherished.

I met Al and Evie when I started hanging out with Alice. He and Evie welcomed me and my husband, David Dennis, into their family with open arms, even to the point of holding our wedding on their land. Like Evie before him, he will be sorely missed.
