SSG Vazquez was born August 9, 1976 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico to Angel and Margarita Vazquez. He was the eldest of 11 children. He joined the Army on August 20, 1996 at the age of 20. He met his wife Vickie Villa in Colorado Springs, CO in 2006. They were married on October 22, 2007 and raised two daughters together. SSG Vazquez retired on September 1, 2016 at Fort Hood, TX.
SSG Vazquez served 1 tour to Kuwait, 4 tours to Iraq and his last tour was served in Afghanistan. His legacy is his unconditional love and dedication to his wife and daughters, his love of family, his former soldiers and his country. There are no words to express the void that his absence has left. He will be dearly missed.
SSG Vazquez was preceded in death by his father Angel, grandparents and uncles. He is survived by his wife Vickie Vazquez, daughters Marisol and Mia, his mother Margarita, brothers Rafael, Eric and Zabdiel, sisters Linda, Maria, Angelica, Ashley, Destiny, Yazmin, Jessica, and by many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 18, 2019, at Crawford- Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Burial with full military honors will be at 1:00 PM Thursday at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. There will be a viewing and visitation 5:00-9:00 PM Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home. Flowers and donations can be sent to 305 Aries Avenue, Killeen,TX 76542.
