Angeline Cervenka Zett passed away peacefully with her grandson by her side on Saturday, February 24, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. Angeline was born in Taylor, Texas on March 4,1931 to John and Kristina Cervenka. She grew up on a farm in Rosebud, Texas and has fond memories of working on the farm and getting into mischief with her siblings.
Angeline married Joe Anton Zett, Jr. on February 9, 1952, in Fort Worth, Texas. As an Army wife she experienced life on the go, raising her two young sons in army bases in Kentucky and Alaska before settling down in Killeen, Texas.
Angeline worked at Woolworth's and was quite energetic about her job. She would proudly talk and reminisce about her time spent at Woolworth's years after she stopped working.
More than anything, Angeline loved spending time with her family. Together they enjoyed fishing and playing dominos. She was a master in the kitchen, and was always cooking, baking, or canning something delicious. She made sure you never left her home hungry! Angeline also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, enjoying nature and taking care of her beloved doggies, something that gave her much joy in life.
She was preceded in death by her sons David Zett and Steve R. Zett, Sr., her husband, her parents, sister Dorothy Elliston, sister Mary Grady and brother Johnny Cervenka. She is survived by grandchildren Shelly McCoy, Steve R. Zett, Jr., and Rowdy Zett and wife, Carrie; and great grandson Chandler McCoy. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends to cherish her memory. The family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful, benevolent care provided by the staff at The Haven at Stone Oak in San Antonio, Texas.
A visitation for Angeline will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 S Fort Hood St, Killeen, Texas 76542, with a rosary commencing at 7:00 PM.
