

Archie Ray Woody was born on December 17, 1950 in McAlester, Oklahoma to the late Otha Woody and Dorsie Web Woody. He passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2015 in Temple, Texas with his loving family near.
After he graduated from McAlester High School in 1969; Archie joined the United States Army. He served his country proudly from 1969-1972 and again from 1975-1993. While serving in the US Army, Archie was deployed to Vietnam and Desert Strom.
He was awarded numerous Army achievement medals, Meritorious Service Medal in 1980 and a Bronze Star Medal in 1991. He retired from the Army in 1993 with the rank of SFC.
SFC Woody graduated from Central Texas College in 1993 with an Associate Degree in Business Administration. He when on to further his education and received a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Central Texas in 1998.
SFC (Ret.) Archie Ray Woody married Ms. Sharon Franklin on May 6, 1993 in McAlester, Oklahoma.
His second career was that of a History Teacher at Smith Middle School on Ft. Hood. Archie was also a member of the Association of Texas Professional Educators.
Archie was also preceded in death by his sisters; Teresa Lay and Marcella Woody, nephew Travis Lay and nieces Leah Brown and Karen Reed.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Woody, son Brent Crandell, daughter; Veronica Woody and Marcy Nordam (Dale), brother Toyse Woody (Mary) and sisters; Joyce Jenkins and Dortha Reed (Jack).
Archie was the loving grandfather of Anna, Westley, Lillie and Van Michael Nordam; Alyssa, Alaina and Alice Woody.
He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Guests may call upon the Woody family for a memorial visitation on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 6:00 PM -8:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen. An inurnment will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
