

Funeral services for William “Bill” Ward, 76, of Temple, will be 10 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2011 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen. Inurnment with military services will follow in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.
Mr. Ward passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011 in a Temple hospital.
William Dean Ward was born February 23, 1935 in Hebron, Nebraska to Jesse and Alvina (Siebenneicher) Ward. Bill was raised in Colorado. He loved doing yard work and remodeling homes.
He married Betty Snow on February 24, 1973 in Coleman, TX.
SFC Ward retired from the US Army on May 31, 1974. Among the awards he received were the National Defense Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal Clasp, Bronze, 2 Loops; Driver & Mechanic Badge w/Driver Bar; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea); Army Commendation Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Expert (Rifle).
Survivors include his wife, Betty Ward of Temple; a son, Dean Steffenson of Minnesota; three daughters, Jennifer Angel and her husband, Frank, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Elizabeth Worthington and her husband, Curtis of El Dorado Springs, Michigan, and Melissa Lounsbury and her husband, Eddie of Humansville, MO; a stepson, Bobby Vines and his wife, Karen, of Howell, Michigan; two step daughters, Renee Minshew and her husband, Steve of Copperas Cove and Juli Mertens and her husband, Ronnie of Searcy, Arkansas; two brothers, Roger Ward and his wife, Lynda, and Brent Ward and his wife, Sandy, all of Pueblo, CO; four sisters, Geraldine Gorman, Virginia Morris, and Connie Estep, all of Pueblo, CO and Carol Montgomery of Colorado Springs, CO; Mother and Father in law; Maudie & Ray Henderson, and a sister and brother in law, Debbie and George Brandt, all of Iowa Park, TX; fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
