Brandon grew up in Sacramento and attended Hiram W. Johnson High School before proudly answering the call to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps in 2009. Over the course of his distinguished service, he rose to the rank of Sergeant (SGT) and served honorably until 2018. During his military career, Brandon received numerous commendations, including the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, among many others. His dedication, courage, and commitment to his fellow Marines and to his country were a source of immense pride to his family and all who knew him.
In October 2018, Brandon married the love of his life, Raven Petree. Together they built a life centered on love, loyalty, and family, and were blessed with three sons: Jameson Petree, Jaxson Petree, and Thomas Petree, who were the greatest joys of his life. Brandon was incredibly proud to be a husband and father, and he cherished every moment spent with his boys.
Brandon was known for his larger-than-life personality and infectious sense of humor. Often called the “class clown,” he had a remarkable ability to make people laugh and bring smiles to those around him. He was passionate about many things—an avid gun enthusiast, motorcycle lover, and dedicated Formula One fan. He also had a strong interest in politics and enjoyed thoughtful discussions with friends and family.
In his professional life, Brandon found excitement and fulfillment working on wind turbines. He loved the thrill and sense of freedom that came with working high above the ground, a job that perfectly matched his adventurous spirit. An adrenaline junkie at heart, he was always seeking the next challenge and living life to its fullest.
Family meant everything to Brandon. He deeply loved his sisters and shared a strong bond with them throughout his life. He took great pride in being a brother and uncle and was always there with a joke, advice, or support whenever it was needed. Brandon was proud of the family he came from and the family he built, and he carried that pride with him every day.
Brandon is survived by his loving wife, Raven Petree; his three sons, Jameson, Jaxson, and Thomas Petree; his mother, Michele Petree; his sisters, Payton Schwedhelm and her son, Sawyer Schwedhelm, and Cameron Buhman and her daughter, Grace Buhman. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Jim Petree, in 2001.
