

Mr. Deardorff was born in Sheridan, MO on December 12, 1931. His family moved around a lot while he was growing up, doing whatever work they could find. As a boy, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He joined the Army at the age of 16.
Carl married the love of his life in 1950 and had two children. After 30 years in the Army, he retired as an SGM. Following his military service, he worked another 17 years in civil service before retiring again. Mr. Deardorff belonged to the same Masonic lodge, in Lawton, OK, for over 60 years. He also belonged to the local VFW and the local Vietnam Veterans Association. He furthered his education and obtained a Bachelor’s degree.
After God, family was everything to Mr. Deardorff. He made friends everywhere he went and would go out of his way to help anyone in need.
Mr. Deardorff is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Florence, brothers Frankie and Jimmie, and sisters Belva and Jeanie.
Carl is survived by his wife of 74 years, Marjorie, one daughter, Brenda Arnold, of Killeen, TX, one son, Don Deardorff (wife Mary Lou) of Seguin, TX and one sister, Ruth Toubin, of St. Joseph, MO. Additionally, he has five grandchildren, Mike Yadusky, Katie Yadusky (husband Willie), Jacob Deardorff, Laura Deardorff, and Joy Deardorff. He also has numerous great grandchildren.
A visitation was held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 12:30 PM at the funeral home. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at 2:00 PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
