Carlos was born November 9, 1945 in Cavite City, Philippines to Parker and Basilia McCartney. He was the oldest of four children. After his father retired from the Navy, his family settled in Southern California where he grew up.
He joined the U.S. Army, serving 20 years in multiple positions including Combat Engineer and Green Beret. He served in the Vietnam War for three years and also toured Germany, Korea, Thailand, and multiple posts across the U.S. Carlos was very proud of his service and his country. During his time in the military, he married and had four children. He was ultimately stationed in Fort Hood where he raised his family in Killeen, Texas.
After retiring from the military, he began working for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier. After 19 years, he retired for a second time and started a new journey with his wife, continuing to support his country with their dry cleaning business that serviced military soldiers. In 2020, they both retired with their chihuahuas.
Carlos was a devout Christian who always put God and family first. He studied the Word of God and truly believed in the power of prayer. He took pride in being a devoted husband, a hard-working provider for his family, and being extremely generous. He was known for his sense of style (especially his hair) and being a macho man. He loved to make people laugh with his unique sense of humor.
Carlos is survived by his wife, InSuk McCartney; his four children, Dennis McCartney, Mark McCartney, Lola McCartney and Kenneth McCartney; his sister, Rebecca Harris; his five grandchildren, Kevin McCartney, Rebecca Kennedy, Gage McCartney, Joseph McCartney and Gavin McCartney; as well as his two great-grandchildren, Alora Kennedy and Giovanni Perez-McCartney.
