Carlos Vaca

Mr. Vaca was born in Belton, Texas, to Juaquin and Naomi Vaca on November 28, 1949. He was the oldest of seven children, Lydia Nache (Henry), Alice DePoy (Dean), Elva Peyrot (George), Edward Vaca (Nancy), Rebecca Alcozer (Manual), and Olga Vaca-Durr (Chuck).

Carlos attended grade school in Belton and Pettus and graduated from the Game Warden Academy at Texas A&M in 1972. Despite this, he was a proud Texas Longhorn as both his children graduated from UT Austin. He has since broadened his collegiate support to include the schools his grandchildren have attended.

Carlos worked as a Game Warden for the State of Texas for 27 years. He began his career in Tarrant county then Bell county, eventually being promoted to Lieutenant at the Game Warden Academy in Austin. He retired as the Boating Law Administrator for Texas Parks and Wildlife. He often recounted stories of his time on patrol, his partners, and students, all with good humor.

He married Carol A. Parker in 1994, in Las Vegas, where they returned often to follow Carlos’ “strict” rules for gambling. Carlos and Carol loved traveling, frequently driving to visit family. They also enjoyed gatherings with friends at their home where Carlos loved to spend time in his Lodge.

Mr. Vaca was preceded in death by: his mother, Naomi Vaca; and his son, Charles Scott Vaca.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol; father, Juaquin Vaca; daughter, Vivian Cantu and husband Rene; daughter, Melanie Jamison and partner Phil; grandchildren Bethany Luttrell (Dean), Gwynneth Cobb (Colton), Robert (RJ) Cantu, Anna Jamison (Jace), and Parker Jamison-Goff; and great-grandchildren Lennon Cobb, Micah Luttrell, Abigail Luttrell, and Caleb Luttrell.

The family wishes to thank all those that were able to visit with him and send well wishes in his final days. Each one put a smile on his face.
