

He was born on December 15, 1934, in Aspermont, Texas, to Cecil Robbins and Maybelle Robbins. Charles attended Quanah High School and later earned an Associate’s Degree from Central Texas College.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army for 24 years as an Infantryman and Intelligence Analyst. His dedication and service were a defining part of his life, and he was a proud member of the Purple Heart Society. After his military service, he worked for NAF on Ft. Hood for 20 years. He managed all the properties for the club system.
On November 23, 1963, he married Gretchen Fenderbosch, and together they built a life and family, raising two children. Charles had a deep love for golf, traveling, and especially caring for his yard and garden—something he was widely known and admired for.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ray Robbins; his sister, Mary Ruth Culbert; and his grandparents.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Gretchen Culbert; his daughter, Patricia Basso; and his son, Charles T. Culbert, grandchildren, Meghan Basso and Hannah Basso and his niece and nephew, Bandy Robbins and Glen Nix.
Military services will be 10 am Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Charles’s memory to the Dementia Society.
