

A devoted husband to Kathleen, loving father, and proud grandfather, Charles was born on April 18, 1949, in Jefferson City, MO, to Thomas and Hermina Fitzpatrick. He attended Eugene Cole R-5 High School, graduating with the class of 1967, and later earned a Business degree from Lincoln University in Jefferson City in 1971. He began his lifelong career in the Moving and Storage Industry with mentor Curt Coy and Allied Van Lines a career that spanned more than 50 years as a driver, distributor, and Sales Manager before his retirement from Ward North American in 2019. His dedication and excellence earned him numerous National Sales awards.
A proud member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9930 and Assembly 2370, Charles served various roles, including Treasurer and Grand Knight. Charles lived out the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism, serving his parish and community with humility and devotion. He previously served as Grand Knight for Council 6830. Charles had a passion for helping others, especially those in need. For several years, he played a leading role in organizing an annual holiday food drive that served families across the greater Killeen area.
Known well for his kindness and acceptance of all walks of life, Charles leaves behind a legacy of generosity and love. He will be fondly remembered for his devotion to his family and faith, his love of St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Oklahoma football, and his thirst for spending time in his roots of Ireland.
Charles married Lucille Chmelir in 1971, and together they raised three children: Curtis, Christopher, and Cindy. In 1999, he married Kathleen Baty of Copperas Cove, TX, with whom he shared 26 loving years.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Hermina; his daughter, Angela Fitzpatrick; and his sister, Shirley Harrison.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his siblings Carolyn Harrison, Linda King, Sharon Miller, Danny Fitzpatrick, Larry Fitzpatrick, and Dennis Fitzpatrick; his children Curtis and Christopher Fitzpatrick, Cindy Chmelir and their mother, Lucille Fitzpatrick; and his grandchildren, Kaylie and Conor Fitzpatrick.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 6 at 11:00 am at St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church in Harker Heights, TX. Visitation will be at Crawford Bowers in Killeen from 5-8 pm, with a Rosary at 7pm.
In lieu of flowers, the Fitzpatrick family requests memorial donations be made in Charles’ name to www.PanCan.org.
The family also extends heartfelt thanks to Eyes of Angels Home Care and the many compassionate neighbors and members of the local Catholic Church Community.
