She was born on January 8, 1946, in Colbert, Oklahoma to Horace and Lorraine Goode. She graduated from Colbert High School in 1963 and immediately moved to Killeen, Tx. She met the love of her life on a blind date in Killeen and married George Lavon Leifester in December 1962. She was a loyal and dedicated Civil Service employee until her retirement as a GS9 in 2001. She started working at Fort Hood at Darnall Army Hospital and later transitioned to the Army Research Institute/Lab. During her tenure as a Civil Service employee, she received numerous awards to include the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service and the Superior Civilian Service Award. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sister sorority. She was a member of the Lifeway Fellowship Church in Killeen and enjoyed the Ladies Bible Studies at Lifeway along with participating in their casserole committee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Charles Goforth, Billy Goforth, George Goforth, Joe Goforth along with her husband George.
Survivors include daughter Charlyn Renfrow (Clarence) and son George H. “Bull” Leifester. She was Nana to many but specifically to her grandchildren Amanda Leifester, Ashley Grady, Jarrod Leifester, Parker Renfrow, Melissa Renfrow Smith and Preston Renfrow (Taylor). Great-grandchildren Baylee Leifester Scott (Davis), Paige Detray, Payton London, Pressley London, Mason Giroux, Harlee Giroux, Elijah Leifester, Jaxson Leifester and Leroy Smith. Great-great-great grandchildren Cason Lantz and Sarah Scott.
Visitation will be held at Covenant Life Church at 10:00am, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 2nd. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made in the memory of George and Charlotte Leifester to Killeen Jr. Livestock Show Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 218, Killeen, Tx 76540.
