Crisanta Maida Adame, 75, of Killeen, TX passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2024, after a lengthy battle with vascular dementia. Crisanta was born in Raymondville, TX on October 25, 1948. Crisanta grew up in Corpus Christi, TX where she would attend school and graduate from Mary Caroll High School in 1967. Her junior year in high school, she met and began dating her future husband, Elias Adame. Crisanta attended beauty school and was just shy of obtaining her Cosmetology license when she fell in love. She would tell the story quite often of how she gave up her cosmetology license for a marriage license!
Crisanta and Elias were married June 29, 1968. She took on the roles of army wife and mother and dedicated her life to her family. Crisanta and Elias had two children in 1969 and 1983. Later she would take on another role as Pre-School teacher. She taught at military, private and home pre-schools as she accompanied her husband around the world. She loved working with children and was a natural in the classroom.
Elias and Maida retired in 1988 and settled down in Killeen, TX. She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church alongside with Elias where she would serve and worship from her favorite pew. Her unwavering faith in God sustained her. She was called to be a prayer warrior, and that she was.
Crisanta loved serving as a Sunday School teacher, sewing, word searches, reading, more reading and her Texas Rangers! However, Crisanta found the most joy in being “Nana” to her grandchildren. Nana nights and weekends were the norm at her house! Recently, Crisanta was given her final role as great-grandmother, and she was elated!
Crisanta leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Elias, and daughter Sandy (Adame) Atkisson and son in-law Michael. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Emery Atkisson and wife Elizabeth, Ethan Atkisson, Emelia Atkisson; her great-grandson, Brantley Atkisson, and four siblings: Ray Reyes, Delia Hinojosa, Diana Chapa, and Sylvia Reyes. Crisanta is preceded in death by her parents, Fernando and Guadalupe Reyes; siblings: Robert, Roy, and Rene Reyes.
Crisanta’s family is comforted, knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved son, John David Adame in Heaven. Crisanta is now in the care of our Great Physician and healed. She will be loved and missed forever.
