D. Kay Mequi

Kay was a brilliant, feisty, generous, strong, and loving woman who impacted everyone’s lives she came across.

Kay was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Killeen as well as the church secretary there for many years. She was involved in many of the church’s groups and activities. It was also there that she met and married her final, forever love, Rev. Bonifacio “Boni” Mequi on November 24, 2000. He preceded her in death in 2018.

Kay and Boni loved to travel, only stopping when they got their beloved furbabies, Eddie and Jake. They then spent their time cheering on the Spurs and enjoying their shared love of food.

Kay loved to craft. She enjoyed everything from making clothes, quilting, crocheting and her true passion, cross-stitching. She was an avid reader of all genres of books and loved completing the Sunday Cross Word puzzle in pen!

Kay lived a life full of blessings. She is survived by her children: Robyn Simpson, Heather Ferrell, Gary-Paul Kirkman, and Elizabeth Galvan; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
