Dan Kennelly

Daniel--better known as Dan to loved ones and friends--was born in Nancy, France on November 18, 1960 to Eiko Kennelly and the late Joseph Kennelly of Killeen. The second born to a decorated soldier and amazing mother, Dan enjoyed the adventures that the military life provided. He moved nearly 10 times during his childhood, calling Japan, Germany, and countless states home.

Moving to Killeen in 1975, Dan attended Ellison High School, wherefrom he graduated in 1979. He met the love of his life, Neva Houde, in 1982. Together, Dan and Neva built a warm and loving home, which expanded with the additions of two beautiful daughters, Renessa in 1983 and Rebecca in 1987. Dan embraced fatherhood with a unique combination of fierce dedication and playful whimsy--cultivating extraordinary bonds with his daughters that remain unwavering despite his untimely passing.

Being highly entrepreneurially-minded, Dan became a successful financial planner and, in later years, tax preparer. His tireless work ethic, innate charisma, and natural intellect became the cornerstones of his rewarding career, which spanned three decades.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Dan had a lifelong passion for football. He prided himself in his robust football magazine collection and impressed many with his seemingly endless knowledge of the sport. Dan was also a noted animal lover and spent his life surrounded by dogs he often considered an extension of his family.

Dan is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Kennelly of Killeen and sister, Joanne Kennelly of Addison, TX. Dan is survived by his mother, Eiko Kennelly of Killeen; wife, Neva Kennelly of Killeen; brother, Ken Kennelly and sister-in-law, Karen Kennelly of Garland, TX; daughters, Renessa Kennelly of Austin, TX and Rebecca Kennelly of Greenville, SC; dog, Clyde Kennelly of Killeen; and numerous friends and other loved ones.

A viewing will be held at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen on Thursday, 2/20/14, from 6:30 pm-8:30 pm. The funeral will be held at Crawford-Bowers on Friday, 2/21/2014, at 2 pm. The Kennelly family will be accepting guests at Dan’s residence immediately following the funeral.
