Daniel C. "Butch" Owens Sr.

Butch was born January 29, 1947 in Peoria, Illinois to Frances Owens and Francis (Conroe) Owens.

He served in the United States Army. While serving he received the National Defense Service Medal, was a Marksman in both rifle and M-60 and was a sharpshooter with a pistol.

Butch loved his family most especially his grandchildren and the sports they were involved in. He also enjoyed NASCAR, giving his time to help others and he loved animals.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his wife, Nydia Owens of Florence; two sons, David L. Owens and his wife Cheryl of Florence and Daniel C. Owens, Jr. and his wife Dawn of Belton; his mother, Francis Owens of Illinois; a sister, Linda Owens of Illinois; six grandchildren, Brittany, Wilson, Brooklynne, Bailey, Jackson and Reagan; his extended family Dawn Cameron Culp, Courtney Culp, Cassidy Culp, the Hill family, Jennifer, Michael, Wyatt, Madison and Aiden and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Florence. Interment services will be at 11 a.m. the same day in the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
