David Leon Nelson, 79, of Killeen, Texas passed away on September 28, 2026. Born in Logan, Utah on December 15, 1946, David's life was marked by steady purpose, deep devotion to those he loved, and a quiet strength that showed most clearly in the way he cared for family and honored commitments.
David graduated from Bear River High School in 1964 and later earned a degree in engineering from Weber State University. His education reflected a disciplined mind and a practical, thoughtful approach to life--qualities that would guide him in the years that followed.
David built his professional life as an engineer with Boeing. He brought to his work the same reliability and diligence the defined him in other roles, meeting responsibilities with consistency and pride in doing things well.
David married Pat Mitchell in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Together they built a family that remained the center of his life. He is survived by his children; Tammera L. Molina (Magdaleno), Micheal K. Nelson (RuthAnn), Heidi Murray (Chad) and Nichole Nelson; grandchildren, Tyler L. Molina, David C. Molina, Alissa Sweeten, McKenzie Wallentine, Kayl Murray, Brinlee Nelson, Sydney Murray, Skylar Murray; and great-grandchildren: Ryder, Titus, Maverick, and Remi Sweeten, Daisy Wallentine, Nadezhda and Ekaterina Molina. He is also survived by his brothers, Ron Nelson (Becky) and Paul Nelson (Jonia); his sister in laws, Caren Nelson Murry and Robyn Carper (Tim); and many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pat Nelson; his parents, Leon and LaRue Nelson and his brother, Charlie Nelson. While his life was rooted in devotion and responsibility, it was also brightened by a gentle humor--often delivered through well-timed Dad jokes--and by the warmth he shared so freely with those around him. Above all, David will be remembered for the enduring love he held for Pat and the steadfast care he gave to his children, grand children and great-grandchildren.
David was a veteran and a Committal Service, with military honors will be held at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, TX 76542, on October 6, 2026, at 11:00 am.
