

Funeral service for David L. Probert, 77, of Killeen will be at 1 PM on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen with Rev. Jimmy Tower officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Killeen City Cemetery.
He was born on November 27, 1934 in Steubenville, Ohio to Leroy and Helen Probert. He passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in Killeen.
He served 30 years in the military retiring in 1983 at the rank of 1 SGT. He earned the following ribbons and medals: Army Service Ribbon; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea); Good Conduct Medal (Silver, 2 Loops); NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 1); National Defense Service medal (w/1 OLC); Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 4); Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal: Vietnam Service Medal (w/3 Bronze Stars); and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry (w/palm). After retiring he attended the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service and earned his Funeral Director and Embalmers license on February 12, 1988. He was employed at Harker-Talasek Funeral Home and later Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a great grandson Brandon DeLa’O.
Survivors include his wife Mildred (Micky) Probert, daughter Brenda Barnwell and husband Chuck, granddaughter Sherry Smith and husband Ingo, grandson Chuck Barnwell II and wife Michelle, and great grandchildren Wyatt Smith and Shannon Barnwell. Also surviving are a brother, William C. Probert and a sister, Bonnie Glazier.
