Della Mae Fogle was born on the 27th of July, 1916 in Pearl, Texas in Coryell County. Her parents were Charles H. William and Minnie Curry Williams. She married the love of her life, Robert Stell Fogle, on 6th day of January, 1936 who preceded her in death on the 17th of January, 2005. Della Mae was a member of the Church of Christ and was a devoted Christian in every since of the word. Teaching every child God’s word, in Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, delighted her soul. In 2007, she received the Golden Walk Award at the Southside Church of Christ’s 40th Anniversary Reunion as one of the longest tenured members of the congregation.
She was a founding member of the Castle Heights and Killeen Garden Clubs and loved teaching her grandchildren the art of making arrangements and competing in flower shows. She became a flower show judge and served in that capacity for clubs in the surrounding areas for many years. In 2014, Della Mae was awarded the Rose Ring of Honor for 50+ years of dedicated service in the District Five Texas Garden Clubs, Inc. Searching for ancestors and learning about their lives was another favorite past time of hers. She was a past member of the Thomas Hughling DAR Chapter and still helped others with their research to be able to join that society. Della Mae sponsored many children from the Foster’s Children’s Home in Stephenville, Texas by visiting them and providing clothing and gifts.
Della Mae was preceded in death by her twin sister Minnie Fae Spivey, William “Duke” Pleasant Williams, R.V. Williams, Burl Williams, Rinaldo “Rin” Williams, and Dois Hooten.
