Delores Ann Spencer was born November 3, 1952, to the late Vivian Armini, Sr. and
Edith Louise Spencer of Warwick County, Virginia. She received her early education from George Washington Carver Elementary, on to George Washington Carver High during segregation and was afforded the opportunity to graduate from Denbigh High in
June 1971.
Delores accepted Christ at an early age under the pastorate of Rev. Flagger of
First Baptist Church Denbigh, Newport News, Virginia. She was an active member of
the Body of Christ in that she participated in Sunday school, was a junior usher, BTU member, choir member, and volunteered for other community and church activities. Delores was reared in the fear and admiration of The LORD by her caring parents.
She was united in Holy Matrimony on July 1971 at First Baptist Church Denbigh to Ronald E. Miller, Sr. and from this union “Three Good Blessings” followed, Ronald Jr., Robert, and Rhonda. She was a loving and caring mother. She raised her children as a single parent for several years and was a very over-protective mother. In August 1987, she married Matthew M. Buntyn.
After moving to Texas, Delores became affiliated with the Christian House of Prayer in Copperas Cove for a short time, but found her peace and place at Marlboro Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Shaun L. Morton, where she joined the Usher Board and served faithfully.
Delores worked for many years at the Williamsburg Pottery, Lightfoot, Virginia;
257th Personnel Service Company, Wiesbaden, Germany; and finally at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Central Texas Veterans Health Care System, where she retired, to mention a few interesting employment opportunities. She was very active in her communities: President, Club 14 Civic and Social Club; President, Benjamin O. Davis VFW Post 9191 Ladies Auxiliary; Federal Women Program Coordinator for AFGE Local 2109; member of Federal Employed Women, Blacks in Government and NAACP.
