He was born in McKeesport, PA and raised in Glassport, PA. Upon high school graduation, he attended a body and fender school. He married Carolyn at St. Paulinus’s Church in Clairton on July 14, 1962. They moved to Los Angeles where he was employed in a body shop. He also worked as assistant manager in a liquor store. He was drafted/enlisted into the Army; he had basic in Fort Polk, LA and was sent to Fort Lewis, WA awaiting transfer to Vietnam, where he served from 1967-1968. He received the DFC, Bronze Star, Air Medal, and various other medals. He was then transferred to Fort. Dix, NJ where he was discharged.
He and his wife moved to Georgia, where he helped build the C5A. He re-enlisted and moved to Fort Hood, TX. He became an aircraft inspector and had deployment to Germany, Korea, & Egypt. After army retirement he attended an A+P school and became an A+P mechanic.
He was preceded in death by parents Ralph & Mary Farmerie.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn, their daughter Ashley Delavega (Alex), 2 grandsons Alex and Devin, 2 brothers in law, Bill Parker (Karen), John Parker (Char), 2 sisters in law Rose M and Cindy B, a deceased brother-in-law Joe Cheek, and sister-in-law Roberta Pica. He has many nieces & nephews & great nieces & nephews.
Visitation is September 8th from 6-8PM Rosary at 7PM. Funeral Mass September 9th at 11AM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Harker Heights, followed by burial service at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Tx with military honors.
