My Dad was such an amazing father. Growing up he was the Dad that was involved, and always did his part in making sure we had all we needed and more.

Although, he had the money he made it a point to not spoil us, and teach us the value of a dollar, and the value is in our word. 

Growing up I have so many memories of my Dad being there all the time. Even though he is we in the army, he would be there. 

When he got off of work, he came home, and was there for whatever we may need.  We often walked our dogs and he would spend time with us. 

My Dad gave more of his time then money, and then when it was time he gave money too. 

He saved it for a rainy bday, and suggested we all do the same. He valued this life, his family, his friends, and had a big heart. 

He was a tell it like it is, take it or leave it kinda man. 
He would often hurt your feelings, but you always knew where he stood on any point of view. 

As a child growing up he was rough on us. I was raised with tight morals and values. He was a simple man, and that made him so special in my eyes.

The idea that he held value for doing the right thing, and living a righteous life. 

He would always tell me, “I won’t steer you wrong.” 
He would often tell me it would only be a matter of time when I was his age, and here I am. 

Life is short, and we are lucky if we are smart enough to truly find the meaning of it before leave this earth. 

I’ve been blessed with parents that love me, and a sister and brother that made growing up fun.

I have been blessed with and Amazing sister that my Dad adored. She has always been a kind soul and I’m lucky to have her. Her husband and children have been a gifted addition to our family. 
My dad truly loved them as he did all of us. 


I met Don 44 years ago when my husband and I were stationed in Germany in the Army. Don & Debbie lived in the same building in a government leased building in the little town of Bonlanden. The two of them were one of the first couples we met. What an enormous help they were to us in learning to navigate living “on the Germany economy” and not on post!  We all became fast friends and celebrated all the holidays together. They  were our very best and treasured friends. Don was a salt of the earth kinda guy. He’d have given the shirt off his back to someone in need. He had two large dogs that he faithfully walked early every morning before work in the nearby German fields. It was his routine. He loved meeting new people, was ever curious and was always up to try something new. He was fearless. An avid walker, he encouraged us to join him and Deb going on Volks Marches which we all did, regardless of the weather.  We got many many metals for those 5k walks and saw a great deal of Germany. Being with Don was always an adventure!  What a great, if not-wicked sense of humor he had at times. I can sit quietly and still remember the sound of his laughter. What a character he was!  Don was definitely the family historian. He kept meticulous baby books on Ashlynn, Donnie and Tara. Oh, these were not any old baby books. These were VOLUMES! He loving and diligently noted every move, every school and so many details. That alone, was almost a full-time job! What a loving gift and a treasured reminder to the three kids of how much their father loved them!  What a man....what a human being he was, he will be missed incredibly by all that knew and loved him. Rest In Peace now, Don.
