

Funeral services for Donald C. Cory, 68, of Killeen will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 31, 2011 at the Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen with Jim Gosnell officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Cory passed away Wednesday morning at his home in Killeen.
Donald Charles Cory was born July 17, 1943 in Richmond, Indiana. He retired from the US Army in 1980 after more than 20 years of service. Among the medals and awards, he received the Good Conduct Medal Clasp, Silver 1 Loop; National Defense Service medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device; Bronze Star Medal; Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm; Sharpshooter (Rifle).
Donald married La-iud Patumpong on March 28, 1967 in Thailand.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Marvin and Ruth Atwell; a brother, Joseph Cory and a sister, Patricia Moore.
Don leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Lanie Cory of Killeen; two sons, Phillip D. and his wife, Tammy Cory of Round Rock, and Frederick A. and his wife, Carol Cory of Pflugerville; a daughter, Kimberly and her husband, Fred Wrisley of Sidney, Michigan; brothers Richard D. Cory of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Russell R. Atwell of Richmond, Indiana and Michael L. Atwell, both of Richmond, Indiana; and a sister, Paula Rogers also of Richmond, Indiana; 12 grandchildren and 3 "and 1/2" great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
