She lived her early life in northern Kansas and Iowa leaving her parents and brother Carl Jordan to join the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps in World War II after the death of her husband Darcy Holm, who died on a mission while flying over the Pacific in WWII. She later married George Harold Angus in 1946, whom she met just prior to his 1944 European deployment. They said their goodbyes at Penn Station and continued corresponding through the end of the war. Upon his return, they married to settle into a civilian life at which time Dorothy left the military after serving in military intelligence at the Pentagon throughout WWII.
They settled in Harker Heights, raised their family, and later retired from transportation services at Fort Hood. Dorothy volunteered throughout her life serving as President of the Fort Hood Officers Wives Club for several years, and volunteering at both Darnell Army Hospital and Metroplex Hospital. She loved to dance, both line dancing at the Harker Heights Community Center for almost 20 years and square dancing as a Silver Belle. Dorothy and George traveled the world together living abroad as a military family and later cruising the world on over 20 cruises throughout Europe and the Americas.
In 2019 she moved to Round Rock to Rolling Rivers Assisted Living where she lived for many years and met several wonderful people and staff. She then moved to Georgetown, receiving loving care from her daughter Nancy and son-in-law Chris along with Scott and White Hospice. She was alert and instructive to the end enriching us with her sage advice. She was the best cake maker, seamstress, cook, crafter, and much more for all of us throughout her life. Her passing has left a hole which will be impossible to fill.
