

Dorothy was one of four children born in the small town of Dawson Springs KY to the late Ottie Lee Porter and Bessie Pearl (Chappel) Porter on August 8, 1932. After graduating high school, Dorothy attended college.
Dorothy was a retired Instructional Assistant for the Killeen Independent School District; a career that she was very enthusiastic about.
Although she had great compassion for the students at Eastwood and Clear Creek Elementary school’s; Dorothy’s most rewarding career was being both Mother and Father to her four boys.
She was an indescribable Parent to her boys. The love between Dorothy and her boys was a love that they will cherish forever.
While working full time both at school and home, she also worked hard for the Lord. Dorothy was a faithful member of the Senior Sunday School Class at Skyline Baptist Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Garland L. Porter and Henry (Harold) Porter.
Dorothy is survived by her 4 loving sons; David L. Gettys (Shirley) of Mansfield, TX, John W. Gettys (Kendall) of Temple, TX, Jeffery S. Gettys (Karen) of Killeen, TX and James F. Gettys (Lisa) of Killeen, TX. 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and her only sister, Doris (Porter) Bock of Bloomington, IN.
