

Earline Marie Decoteau, a native of Norco, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022 from complications stemming from dementia. She was 88 years old and a resident of Stoney Brook Assisted Living Facility in Copperas Cove, Texas.
She attended Saint Charles Borromeo Elementary School and Destrehan High School, graduating as Valedictorian of her senior class. She received her college degree in Elementary Education from Southeastern Louisiana College and taught in Louisiana public schools for several years. After receiving her Master's Degree in Library Science from LSU, she spent 26 years as Ascension Parish Librarian and Library Director. During this time, she was caregiver for her father and older sister.
She is survived by her youngest brother, Glynn Thomas Decoteau, and his wife Sonia Young Decoteau. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis Decoteau and Bertha Gautreau Decoteau; sisters Ravenell Decoteau Vincent, Beverly Decoteau, and brothers Gaius Decoteau and Thomas Gleason Decoteau, and nephew Brent William Decoteau.
A mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville, LA March 1, 2022 At 11 AM, followed by burial in the Prairieville Cemetery, adjacent to church grounds.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America in honor of Earline's life and memory.
