From precious dust, Elizabeth Charlotte Font was formed, and God breathed life into her on June 23, 1926. On May 13, 2016, her soul was carried by the angels to the joys of Heaven. Whole now and full of vitality, she has joined the heavenly chorus singing praises to Christ Jesus her Lord and Savior.
Elizabeth distinguished herself as the matriarch of the Font clan where she tirelessly worked to raise four daughters and run the household while her husband served our country in the Army. Affectionately known as Oma by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she loved her family and always looked forward to family gatherings. One of her greatest joys was playing games with family and friends where she usually beat the socks off of anyone she played against.
Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she is survived by her four daughters, Linda and her husband Sam from Waco, Barbara from Colorado, Laura from Austin, and Sharon and her husband Mark from Austin as well as her adopted daughter Diane Winkler from Austin. She dearly loved her five grandchildren: Elizabeth and her husband Felix from Germany, John and Jennifer from Waco, Heidi and wife Stephanie from Colorado and Alex from New York. Her life was blessed by seven great grandchildren: Savannah, Louis, Travis and Emma from Germany, Charlotte from Waco, and Ethan and Zachary from Colorado. She is also survived by one brother, Hans Pleitner and his wife Marianne of Germany, her godson Walter Beyer of Germany and beloved niece, Susan Dugas , husband Mike, and son Will of Katy, and nephews Guenther and Hans-Peter Pleitner of Germany.
The Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2016. Interment will follow in Killeen City Cemetery.
