Our Beloved Betsy, Our Sunshine
Having taught strength through love,
Now awaiting us, with our Lord’s Grace above,
May all the Angels sing!
Elizabeth “Betsy” Anne McPherson Garrison was born in Augsburg, Germany on 31 August 1954, daughter of John Michael McPherson and Janet Anne McPherson (Olson). She was the eldest of four children--Timothy McPherson, Jay McPherson, and Lysa Beebe. She was called home Friday, December 3rd, 2021 after a brief illness.
Being in a military family, Betsy moved around throughout her childhood to places like Germany, California, Virginia, Maine, and finally settling down in Killeen, TX. She graduated from Killeen High School in 1972. She married the one true love of her life, Raymond Garrison on 8 May 1982 at her parents’ home in Killeen. She described Raymond as her “…Always and Forever. Our love grows Every, Single, Day.” He was her everything. She welcomed her only daughter Cherish Anne Garrison on May 20, 1976.
Besides her furry family, to include any stray cat that wandered into her yard and maybe a few opossums, Betsy cherished family above all else. She was blessed with four baby grands that she affectionately referred as loved beyond measure, Martha, Marcos, Anthony, and Marissa Garrison. In turn, she was always known as “Big Momma”. Betsy even braved a trip to the windy city of Chicago just to celebrate her niece Caitlyn’s college graduation, remembering it as a trip she’d always treasure.
Betsy was a devoted employee of Baylor Scott and White Health for over 33 years, where she retired in November 2020. Her caring nature helped countless people she never even met. Before her retirement, she would always make tons of plans for when she had more time after retirement. She was bit by the cruise bug when she took a cruise to Mexico and wanted to take one more cruise. Of course, she wanted to bring her entire family with her.
She is survived by her husband/ the love of her life, Raymond Garrison of Killeen, TX, brothers, Timothy McPherson of Lampasas, TX and Jay McPherson of Harker Heights, TX, sister Lysa Beebe of O’Fallon, IL, her daughter Cherish Garrison and adopted daughter Melissa Garrison of Killeen, TX , and numerous loved nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.
