Mrs. Idoux passed away on November 17, 2016 in Temple. Frances Anne was born March 24, 1941 in Dallas to William Robert Sullivan Sr. and Anne Belle (Garrett) Sullivan. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas. She began a life-long love of writing, serving as the editor of the high school newspaper and moving on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in English and French at Southern Methodist University in 1963 and was awarded the distinctive Phi Betta Kappa key for her educational accomplishments.
Frances met John Idoux in the Bryan/College Station area in 1964 while she was teaching high school French and he was in graduate school at Texas A&M University. They were married on June 4, 1966.
During the next thirty years, Frances raised four children, moving to various parts of the country as John worked at several different universities. She was an extremely devoted wife and mother, and also very active in community organizations, particularly at her children’s schools and the family’s churches. Frances played a significant role in supporting her children as they became parents. She was a very involved grandmother who loved her twelve grandchildren dearly and was their biggest fan in whatever activities they pursued. Although an amateur, Frances was an accomplished photographer and in particular was dedicated to thoroughly documenting her grandchildren’s special moments and God’s beautiful work in nature.
Over the years Frances wrote and edited for community magazines such as the Pee Dee Magazine in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the Tex Appeal magazine in Temple, Texas and the Military Child Education Coalition publication in Harker Heights, Texas. She also was a certified Master Gardener (Bell County Master Gardener), a member of Altrusa International of Central Texas, a board member for the Killeen Free Clinic, and a volunteer at the Military Child Education Coalition. In addition, Frances served on multiple church committees at the various parishes where they were members and was a Eucharistic minister at her parishes. Frances loved to cook, ride horses and garden in her spare time, and her favorite place to vacation was at the beach with family.
Mrs. Idoux was preceded in death by her parents, William R. Sullivan, Sr. and Anne Garrett Sullivan, and her brother, William R. Sullivan, Jr.
Survivors include her husband, John P. Idoux; son and daughter in law, John W. and Teresa Idoux of Belton; daughters and sons in law, Michelle and Richard Delaune of Cypress, Lisa and Rudy Gonzalez of The Woodlands; Christina and David Rodriguez of Cumberland, Rhode Island; grandchildren Alex, Ryan, Rebecca, Emily, Olivia, Evan, Reagan, Rachel, Abby, Reece, Eli, and Lilly.
