

After an unflinching struggle with lung cancer, Gay Coleman, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her canine family, Traveler, Togo and Townie on Saturday, October 16, 2010. Gay was born January 8, 1952 on Long Island, NY. Gay moved around the country with her military family and graduated from Green Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio before moving with her family to Killeen, TX.
Gay channeled her love of and innate gift for working with animals into the successful business, Roomin’ and Groomin’, which she owned and operated for over thirty years. As a certified kennel operator, Gay was the first person in the area to employ clicker training which she used to confer obedience championships on her dogs. In her long career as a dog trainer she mentored numerous other dog owners. Gay was the loving, conscientious primary caregiver for both her father and mother in their later years.
Gay is preceded in death by her parents, LTC (Ret.) John D. Coleman and Dorothy H. Coleman.
Gay is survived by her three sisters, Penny Oots, (Lamont Poole), Terry Atkins (Clay Atkins), and Sherry Coleman (Andrew Ware) as well as four nieces, Martha Kuhlman, Dorothy Tate, Chris Howe and Andrea Howe and numerous great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel.
