Funeral services for Gerald Elbert Hosick, 86, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Andrew Green officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Killeen City Cemetery.
Mr. Hosick died Feb. 10, 2012, at home surrounded by family.
He was born June 7, 1925, in Enfield, Ill., one of four children to the late George Samuel Hosick and Hazel Agatha (Harmon) Hosick.
In his youth, he loved to play basketball, collect comic books and participating in spelling bees. He had to quit high school to support his mother and brothers. He later joined the military and earned his GED. Mr. Hosick later enrolled in college and in 1982, he was awarded an Associate in Applied Science.
He married the love of his life, Alice Vivian Moss, on Feb. 14, 1947. The couple enjoyed hobbies such as fishing, square dancing and bowling. They were the very proud parents of five children.
His military career allowed the Hosick family to travel to places like Fort Knox, Ky., Fort Ord, Calif., Germany and finally Fort Hood. He received 32 military awards, including three Bronze Stars. Served in Korea Oct. 59-60 and in Vietnam Apr.67-68 and Oct. 69-70. Dad Proudly Served 31 years in the Army.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Alice Vivian Moss Hosick; a brother, Richard Hosick; five children, David Hosick and his wife, Mary Jane, Donna Hosick-Jean and her husband, Phillip (Randy), Steven Hosick and his wife, Julie, Samuel Hosick and his wife, Brenda, and Carol Hosick-Harmon and her husband, Ludovic; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church School.
