

He served in the Army from August 12, 1957 to October 31, 1985. He retired at the rank of Master Sergeant from Ft. Sam Houston. A Vietnam veteran from 1966-1967; he was awarded Republic of Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation and Army Service Ribbon.
Mr. Northrop was a member of the Greater Killeen-Ft. Hood Bowling Association for many years; which afforded him the opportunity to travel and make many friends along the way. Jerry never met a stranger and had a gift for gab. He was a friend to everyone he met. He loved to travel, enjoyed dinners with friends and never missed an opportunity to share some chocolate cake. Quick witted and funny, he cannot be remembered for speaking a harsh word. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Catherine Northrop. He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores(Dee)of 59 years; two sons, Keith and his wife Sandra, and Kevin; granddaughter Autumn; sister- in-law, Kathy Waz and numerous extended family.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.. Chapel Service will be Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Interment will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
