Gerty Kaethe Herron

Gerty K. Herron, 90, of Killeen passed away on November 11, 2025, at her home. She was born on August 30, 1935, in Eislingen, Germany to Frida Braitinger. Gerty Married Manuel P. Herron on April 14, 1961, in Germany. They were married for 62 years and had three children. While her children were growing up, she was greatly involved with cub scouts, boy scouts, brownies, and girl scouts. When her kids were of high school age, she went to work for the Killeen ISD in a cafeteria for 10 years. Gerty loved to bowl on leagues with her husband and go with him when he travelled for national tournaments. She was a bowler for many, many years. She was also a proud member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Killeen.

Gerty was preceded in death by her husband Manuel “Bud”, her mom Frida and a son Manuel P. Herron “Jr.” She is survived by a son Ronald Herron of Harker Heights and his fiancée Kimberly Gilbert of Belton, a daughter Christina Herron of Killeen, grandchildren Joshua and wife Jillian Herron of Belton, Jonathan and wife Aubrie Herron of Fort Worth, great grandchildren Tatum and Olivia Harrell of Belton, Levi Herron of Belton, and Sebastian Herron of Fort Worth.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00am December 6, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church 1308 Cunningham Rd. Killeen, Texas. Gerty’s cremains will be interred in Killeen Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date with immediate family present. In lieu of flowers, the Herron family asks that you make a memorial donation in Gerty’s name to the Dementia Society at dementiasociety.org.
