Gilda Beatrice Warren

Gilda Beatrice Warren passed peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2026 at the age of 94. She was born January 19, 1932 to Annie and Preston Montgomery in Belton, Texas. She graduated from high school in Salado, Texas. In 1953, she met a charming airman, Dorman Mac Warren, on a blind date and married soon after.

The happy couple started their journey at Lackland Airforce Base, San Antonio, Texas. They welcomed three children—Derin (1955), Perin (1958), and Kerin (1966) into their family. Being a military family meant frequent moving. Gilda made sure that each destination, no matter how temporary, always felt like home for Mac and the kids.

Gilda enjoyed playing bridge with other military wives, being a homemaker, and gardening (her favorite was knock out roses). Being a Texas girl at heart, she never lost her love for Dr. Pepper or biscuits and gravy.

After twenty years of military life and living in at least twenty different places, Gilda and Mac moved to Duncanville, Texas where they bought a veterinary clinic. Gilda assisted Mac at the clinic, but her true devotion was doting on her grandchildren.

Affectionally known as MomMom, Gilda was her grandchildren’s utmost and greatest champion. No Grandmother served her grandchildren with more affection than MomMom. “Spending the night” at MomMom and DadDads was the pinnacle of childhood. It was simply an absolute treat consisting of, at minimum, blue bell ice cream, hide-n-go-seek, your favorite board games, a few movies from Blockbuster, and the occasional lottery ticket. In the morning, her grandkids would wake up to the smell of biscuits and gravy, bacon, and a dose of coffee with a cup of whole milk as a chaser. Gilda’s grandkids never left her house short of confidence. Her grandchildren were constantly reminded that they were “special, smart, and beautiful” and the best at whatever they did.

Having spent twenty years enjoying the community in Duncanville, they sold the clinic, bought land in Granbury, Texas, and built a house. Gilda hosted many family events at their new location and always welcomed visits from the grandchildren. After Mac’s passing, Gilda maintained the property including cutting down mesquite trees, and mowing the acreage on her zero turn mower. In 2019, Gilda moved to Cedar Hill to be closer to her children, grandchildren, and eventually, great grandchildren.

Gilda is survived by son Perin Warren (wife Judy), daughter Kerin Levy (husband Jake), daughter-in-law Vivian Warren. Grandchildren: Brandon Warren (wife Melina), Alice Collazo (husband Aaron), Nathan Warren (wife Kayla), and Madeleine Moehling. Great grandchildren: Adam Collazo, Liam Warren, Claire Collazo. Brother- in- law Kevin Warren, sisters- in-law: Kathi Hustedt (husband Linden) and Joyce Montgomery. Also, many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by husband Dorman Mac Warren, son Derin Warren, sisters Quita Vandergriff and Yvonne Hutson, and brother Preston Montgomery.

The family is thankful for the loving care Gilda received from Ginger D’Agata, Helping Haven Hands of DeSoto, Custom Care Hospice, and friends and family who visited her.
