Guadalupe Esparza who was 91 years old and better known as Lupe, died peacefully in her sleep on June 26 while she was being cared for by her medical team and hospice nurses at Baylor Scott and White in Temple. The families of Frank and Norma attended and visited her in her final days at bedside along with her grandchildren and bonus children.
She is survived by son Francisco, daughter Norma Linda Garza, son Paul and bonus children Terry, Larry, Brenda, Gail and Dale. She was grandmother to eight grandchildren, Arthur, Danielle, David, Stephen, Kristen, Alexandra, Christopher, and Hillary. She has seven great grandchildren and two great great grandkids, Sarah Jae, Ilyana, Steven Jr., Madison, Mariana, Monet, Atlas, and Mila and Vivi.
Predeceasing her are husband Francisco, her parents Genovevo and Victoria of McAllen, and siblings Rafael, Roy, and Vicky. Surviving siblings are Robert, Ramiro, Sophia, and Ernestina and Rolando.
As a young mom she anticipated a quiet life in South Texas but love and devotion to a handsome man who rose steadily in the U.S. Army gave her a worldly perspective. She travelled and toted her kids around the world and country and made friends everywhere.
She was a great example of patience, responsibility, and humor. But you had to be on guard when you played with her in dominos or lotteria. We love you and will miss you. You did good, mom. We were lucky you were ours.
Arrangements are under Crawford Bowers.
Please visit her memorial page to share a condolence, memory, or photo. In lieu of flowers a donation is requested for the St. Joseph Catholic Academy.
