Helen Herrera

Helen was born on February 21, 1954, in Killeen, Texas, to Antonio and Elida Jaramillo. She was raised in a large, loving family and carried those strong family values with her throughout her life. She is survived by her siblings, Freddie Jaramillo, Nancy Jaramillo, and Trinidad Jaramillo. She was preceded in death by her siblings Tony Jaramillo, Richard Jaramillo, Roberto Jaramillo, Connie Garcia, Alice Briggs, and Beatrice Jaramillo.

Helen married Pete Herrera, and together they built a beautiful family that became the center of her world. She was a devoted and proud mother to her three children: Pete Herrera (wife, Kerrie Herrera), Martha Valadez (husband, John Valadez Sr.), and Elida Herrera. Nothing brought Helen greater joy than being "Mom" and "Grandma."

She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Andrew Lucero, Izabel Herrera, Alisa Herrera, John Valadez Jr., Adam Valadez, Victoria Herrera, and Justin Gonzales, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Helen had a joyful spirit that could often be found on the dance floor. She loved to dance, finding happiness in music and sharing those moments with the people she loved. She also found comfort in life's simple pleasures—watching Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons, tending to her thriving plants with her remarkable green thumb, and enjoying one of her favorite treats from Whataburger.

Helen had a gift for bringing people together. Family meant everything to her, and she loved planning gatherings where laughter, stories, and love filled every room. Her kitchen was the heart of many cherished memories, especially when she prepared her famous taco dinners. Family and friends eagerly gathered around her table, knowing they would leave with full stomachs and even fuller hearts.

More than anything, Helen will be remembered for her unwavering love, her generous heart, and the warmth she shared so freely with everyone around her. She created a home where everyone felt welcome, where family traditions flourished, and where love was always the main ingredient.

Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her legacy lives on through the family she cherished, the memories she created, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and devotion.

The Herrera family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nurses and aides at Lily Springs Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for the loving care they provided to Helen each day. They also extend their sincere appreciation to the caring staff of Heart to Heart Hospice for their guidance, compassion, and unwavering support during Helen's final journey. Your kindness brought comfort not only to Helen, but to her entire family, and will never be forgotten.

Helen's life was a beautiful reminder that love is measured not by grand gestures, but by the everyday moments shared around a dinner table, in a warm embrace, in laughter with family, and in a heart that always put others first.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.

Funeral Services

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Crawford & Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, Texas.

Following the service, family and friends are warmly invited to join in a Celebration of Life and fellowship meal at:
