Served a one year tour in Vietnam. Served 20 plus years in the U.S. Army with basic training at Fort Polk, LA, stationed primarily at Fort Hood, TX, spent 4 years at Fliegerhorst Kaserne in Germany, then 4 years at Fort Sill, OK with a final duty tour at Schofield Barracks, HI with retirement in February 1990.

He is survived by his mother Lois Wommack Butts of Kaufman, his brothers and their wives Charles and Mary Crouch of Mabank, TX, Daryl and Elizabeth Crouch of Forney, TX, Gerry and Jane Crouch of Mabank, TX, Linda Welden of Kaufman, TX, Sherry Wells of Saginaw, TX, Helen Crouch of Forney, TX, Dwayne Butts of Dallas, TX, Dennis Butts of Dallas, TX.

He is also survived by several aunts and uncles and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jim loved all people young and old. He always had a smile for those he loved. He worked hard no matter what he was doing.
