

Services for (Ret) SFC James H. Davis, 72, of Killeen, will be 12:30 pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen on Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Interment will follow at 2 pm at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Davis passed away June 4, 2015 in Killeen. He was born August 15, 1942 in Lexington, VA to Lertie Hunter Davis and Beatrice (Warlitner) Davis.
He graduated in 1961 from Natural Bridge High School in Lexington where he enjoyed playing football, baseball, and being a drum major. He was also active in the 4H during his childhood.
He retired after 24 years from the US Army after serving in Germany, Vietnam and Korea. He married Elsbeth Ida Kleinschrod on July 9, 1965 in Euerbach, Germany.
James very much enjoyed young people and gave more than 29 years to umpiring various ball games. He enjoyed woodcrafting, singing in the Presbyterian Church Choir and square dancing with his wife.
Survivors include his wife, Elsbeth Davis of Killeen; sons, Richard and wife, Peggy Davis of Midway, and Kenneth and wife, Shannon Davis of Noblesville, Indiana; daughter, Patty Rudd and her husband, Garland; grandchildren and great grandchildren; Sarani and her husband, Elijah Stroh and their children Sarijah Cauvel and Mikael Stroh; Dylan Rudd; Savannah Davis and Owen Davis, Troy Whisenhunt and wife, Amy, and their children, Alyssa and Wesley of Gatesville; Kevin Whisenhunt and wife, Shae and son, Cooper, of Gatesville; and Nicolas Whisenhunt and wife, Megan and their daughter, Elizabeth of Jonesboro; brother, Dewitt Davis and sister, Susan Beverly.
