Gary was born on September 4, 1946, in Hendersonville, North Carolina to Raymond William Garrison Jr. and Betty Mitchell Garrison.
Gary was called Home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Sunday, June 22, 2025, after a long battle with Cancer.
Gary Garrison was a dedicated Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and loyal and trusted friend. Gary passed away peacefully at his home in Bertram, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.
Gary was one of four siblings including:
· Raymond Edward Garrison (preceded)
· Veta Rebecca Garrison Torres (preceded)
· Patti Garrison Lolley and husband Lane Lolley of Buda, Texas
Gary was a graduate of Killeen High School class of 1965.
Gary served honorably in the United States Air Force from August 3, 1965, to January 22, 1969. After the Air Force, Gary tirelessly serviced thousands of automobiles working for himself, Kenny Hill Motors, and B&B Mufflers. His true passion was serving as Crew Chief /Lead Mechanic for his Street Outlaw Drag Race Team, Racecar Team for The Nuclear Frog, Top Alcohol Drag Boat, the Rear Admiral, and the A/Fuel Dragster sponsored by Tigerflow. In his “retirement” years, Gary moved to maintain customers’ (friends) car collections, from vintage to fast race toys, basically anything with an engine, and he kept those collections in tip-top form. Gary’s true love was sitting behind the wheel, revving the engine to hear that sound of a finely tuned engine and to feel the rumble and power and just waiting for the Christmas Tree to turn green. At age 78, Gary raced the Hitman down the track making heads turn; although, in Gary’s words, “Car... A+ Driver... C-,” Gary lived his life full throttle, all gas and no brakes!
A visitation for Gary will be held Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Crawford-Bowers Killeen. A celebration of life service will be held Monday, June 30, 2025, at 8:30am at Crawford-Bowers Killeen, followed by Interment at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
