

Services for James Bert Norman, 88, of Harker Heights will be 10:00am Thursday January 21, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Trimmier, 6405 Chaparral with burial to follow at Killeen City Cemetery. He was born July 1, 1927 in Killeen, Texas and passed away January 16, 2016 in Harker Heights. He comes from a large founding family of Killeen. He played on the 1944 undefeated Kangaroo football team, and entered the Air Force immediately after graduating in 1945. When he returned home he married his life long love, Sue Staton on June 3, 1950 and they were married for 66 years. After many years of owning rental property he retired to a life involving family, gardening and church. He always had a project in the works to the very end. He was preceded in death by his parents John Franklin Norman and Isa Dora Hoover Norman, and seven siblings. Survivors include wife; Sue, son; John and wife Petrea Norman of Florence, daughter; Kathy and husband David Miller of Huntsville, son; Jim and wife Debbie of Killeen, granddaughters; Cody and husband Juan Carlo Fernandez of Austin, and Amye and husband Mike Neely of Madisonville, grandsons; Chris and wife Alisha Norman of Killeen, Ryan and wife Sarah Norman of Killeen, Bobby and wife Jennifer Miller of Liberty Hill, Paul and wife Sheri Miller of Salado, great-grandchildren; Stephanie and Michael Evans, Mia and Ema Fernandez, Avery and Mallory Norman, Colt and Staton Norman, Riley Miller, and Hunter Neely, great great-grandchildren; Ellie Cleveland, and brother due in March and his beloved dog Peanut. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the First Baptist Church of Trimmier. The family will receive visitors from 5-7pm Wednesday January 20, 2016 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.
