

Services for retired Command Sgt. Maj. James H. Timmons Jr., 80, of Killeen, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen with burial to follow at Killeen City Cemetery. Mr. Timmons died May 11, 2010, in a Temple veterans hospital.
He was born Aug. 16, 1929, in Cordele, Ga., to James H. and Edna Timmons. He married Josiane Griffith on April 15, 2000.
Mr. Timmons served his country proudly for 30 years, with tours in Korea, two tours in Germany and two tours in Vietnam. He was chosen to attend the first class of the Sergeants Major Academy at Fort Bliss in El Paso. His last duty station was Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, FORSCOM, and he was a member of the Sergeants Major Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Survivors include his wife, Josiane; sons, Tony Timmons and his wife, Olga, and Andy Timmons and his wife, Rosa; daughters, Rose Ann Coker and her husband, Buck, Debi Timmons and Cheryl Reid and her husband, Lucky; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother; and three sisters.
