The sun rose on September 19, 1933 in Waco, Texas for Jimmie Lee Grandberry, she is the daughter of the late James and Nancy Belle Haliburton.
Jimmie confessed her life to Christ at an early age. She is the youngest of four; two brothers and one sister.
She lived with Lottie Mae Robinson, maternal grandmother and Ira Lee Robinson, step-grandfather, who raised her from birth until she was age 12. At age 12 she went and lived with Joseph G. Oliver (Uncle) in Palestine, TX. Jimmie was a star student by doing well in school and participating in and winning several spelling Bees. She graduated from High School at age 16 and attended Huston Tilloston College in Austin, TX for two years.
Jimmie was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Lester Grandberry, on October 7th , 1954, and from this union came four children.
She is preceded in death by James Haliburton (father), Nancy Belle Haliburton (mother), Tiny Belle Garrett (sister), Robert Lee Bush (brother), Britty Harris (brother), Lottie Mae Robinson (maternal grandmother), and Ira Lee Robinson (step-grandfather), and Joseph Oliver, (uncle).
Jimmie leaves her loving memories to be cherished: her devoted husband, Lester Grandberry, her four children: Kenneth Grandberry, Celeste Green (Kenneth), Anthony Grandberry (Sue), and Pamela Lauterbach (Tim). Seven grandchildren: Ayanna Jarrett (Roderick), LaRaye Sullivan (Paul), Kendra Grandberry-Hill (Frankie) , Danielle Irvin-Anderson (Earnest), Cherelle Irvin, Amy Grandberry, and James Grandberry, nine great grandchildren,and devoted first cousin Shirley Cashaw along with many cousins, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The Grandberry family will receive guests for a time of visitation on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 6 – 8 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen. A home going celebration will be held at Cornerstone Baptist Church of Harker Heights on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Dr. Edward Wagner officiating. Interment will be 3:00 pm at Elm Mott Cemetery in Waco, TX.
