John Closson was a retired Navy Sailor who loved to create innovative solutions, help his fellow neighbors, and simply make people laugh with his practical joking antics.
Even from a young age he would think of ways to automate simple tasks of cooking, fishing, and carpentry with outside the box ideas that he would build and test. During his military service he would use those skills in aircraft and ship repair. After his military service he managed the construction of US embassies and federal buildings. Later in life, wanting to be closer to home, worked as head mechanic for a fleet of over 100 vehicles that began laying many of the fiber optic cables in the northwestern United States. John was never shy about working a day in his life.
A devoted father, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend, John was known for his generosity, wit, creative storytelling, and free spirit.
John Closson is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Bernice Closson, and daughter Denise Erickson.
John Closson is survived by his sons Chris and Edward (Teya) Closson, three grandchildren, Victoria, Edward Jr, and Erika Closson, three loving sisters, Evelyn (Wiley) Norton, Berna Closson, and Louis (Gary) Dansler, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who will cherish his memory always.
John Closson was a joy and light in our world. He will continue to be a mark in the lives that he touched and the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.
