Joey was born August 23, 1947 to Ignacio & Jenny Burriel in Fresno, California. Joey is survived by his loving wife Debbie Burriel of Killeen, TX; his three children Chris Burriel of Clearfield, UT, Nicole Maragh of Beeville, TX, and Lacey Kayhoe of Houston, TX; several sisters, brothers, cousins, eight grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Joey attended Fresno High School and upon graduation he was drafted into the United States Army in 1968 and was sent off to fight in the Vietnam War. Joey loved the Army and serving his country.
Those who knew Joey, knew that he was an incredibly kind hearted and funny man. One of his favorite things that he would do and found funny would be to ask the restaurant waitress for a hug when she would ask him if there was anything else he needed, he never met a stranger. Aside from his kind heart and funny ways, he had a great love for his wife. As he would say, “My beautiful, love of my life”. He enjoyed weekend trips with her, shopping and their every Friday night movie date. He also enjoyed working around the house, shooting pool, buying new cars, Harley motorcycles and being with his two little fur babies Ali and Molly.
Contributions in memory of Joey can be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation who help veterans like our beloved Joey with their struggles with PTSD.
So until we meet again...our joys will be greater, our love will be deeper, our life will be fuller because we shared your moment. We will forever miss you.
