Joshua Hill Jr. was born in Thomson, GA on June 3, 1954 to the late SFC (Ret.) Joshua Hill, Sr and Johnnie Mae (Moore) Hill. He had five brothers and one sister. LTC (Ret.) Joseph (Greg) Hill (Pat), Kevin Hill, Spencer Hill (Angela), Mark Hill (Jackie) and Cynthia (Hill) Matthews (Emerson) survives him. His oldest brother, Marion Hill preceded him in death. He also has many nieces and nephews of which he was very close and proud. He spent most of his youth attending various schools in Ft. Dix, New Jersey, Fort Carson, Colorado, Fort Riley, Kansas and El Paso, Texas supporting his Father’s Military Career. Joshua joined the military at age 21. He served at duty stations as a member of A Battery, 2nd Division, 20th Field Artillery Battalion, Ft. Carson Colorado and Grafenwöhr, Germany where he demonstrated leadership and perseverance while achieving several military honors. He rose to the rank of Sergeant while serving honorably. He served this great Nation for 4 years receiving the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, an M16 Sharp Shooter Badge and the list continues. After returning to Killeen, Texas, Joshua continued to serve as a member of the Texas National Guard. He worked diligently in support of the U.S. Army at Fort Hood, Texas as a Logistician moving troops and their equipment to meet their mission. He retired from the Civilian Service with over 30 years of service. His memories will be cherished by his family, friends and the Killeen community of which he was a big part for many years. He had a love for music (saxophone player like his father), fishing, repairing cars and radio-controlled airplanes. He was generous to a fault and willing to help all of his family and friends. Often giving to others while sacrificing personal needs for those he loved and respected. The Hill family will have a time of visitation from 10 AM -12 PM to be held on May 13, 2021 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen. We would like to send our condolences to Josh’s’ family. We have known Josh since he moved into the neighborhood. He was always looking out for neighbors and helping anyone that needed it. We will deeply miss seeing and talking to him almost every day when he was sitting on his chair in the front yard. RIP

I worked with Joshua for the 25 year he worked in DOL Transportation as the Lead Shipment Clerk-Inbound Freight. Joshua was a person who will help those who were in need and struggling. He was always talking about his niece's and sister making sure they were always taken care of.

My deepest condolences and prayers go out to his family and may you have peace and comfort as you remember Joshua and the good times you were together during family gathering. God bless you all.

Josh will be missed. He was our neighbor for many years. His family still is. He was always willing to help us in any way he could. He was excellent at car repairs and did a lot of that for us. He was such a kind, gentle, generous person. He and all of his family are wonderful friends. Could not ask for better neighbors.
