After 89 years of devotion to her family and community, Judith (Judy) Soliz peacefully departed to be with the Lord on July 8, 2025. Judy was welcomed wholeheartedly into this world on March 26, 1936 by Eustacio Del Llano and Dolores Diaz Del Llano.
Judy grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, and was one of eight children of the close-knit and faith-inspired Del Llano family. As life happens, she married her high school sweetheart, Ramiro Soliz, Jr. of Corpus Christi, and they had four wonderful children who brought much happiness to their lives.
With Judy's help and encouragement, she and Ramiro became the proud owners of Pan Pin Bakery, all while working full-time as a bookkeeper along with her sister, Lupe Barrera, for Huckman Trucking and Guerra Trucking. For decades, they continued to own and operate the bakery, where she and her husband insisted that their elementary-age children work.
Judy's ingrained faith sustained her through life's trials and tribulations. Every Sunday, Judy and her husband attended Mass and cultivated a faithful, spiritual life in her children and grandchildren. Along with her husband, she volunteered to teach religious education to teenagers from Christ The King Parish.
Judy was never far from her children and always found the time to be with them whether taking them to school or extracurricular activities, and was always found encouraging them at their athletic games, performances, recitals and award ceremonies. She came to be known as "LadyBug" because people would always recognize the ever present Volkswagen Beetle coming to join her kids' games and school events. She raised her kids in a household that became the rec-center for the neighborhood kids who would come over to play on the ping-pong table she set up in the garage or play board games with Judy on the front porch. To this day, many of those neighborhood kids share their vivid memories of Judy's kind, giving, and loving personality.
Judy was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Moody High School football and baseball teams, and her support of the latter teams continued even after her children long graduated. She enjoyed sports so much that she joined the Christ The King Ladies Softball Team, along with her sisters, Lupe Barrera & Irma Perez, and the nuns from Christ The King School, where her children attended school. When her husband could not fulfill his duty as a volunteer coach of that school's boys' baseball team, she would graciously take over and coached the team to the delight of the nuns. She was always there for anyone in need, whether they needed a sympathetic ear, or organizing a clothes or food drive for those in need.
Judy's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she was deeply devoted to them. Besides engaging in games with them, Judy played host to weekend stays, took them camping and on outings, and indulged their continued requests to replay the Oldies "Charlie Brown" song. Just as she did with her children, Judy was always present, cheering them on at all their athletic games, performances, and academic accomplishments. Judy's face would light up each time she saw her great-grandsons, Ben and Alex, who gave her the nickname, "Momo."
For relaxation, Judy enjoyed reading detective books, praying the rosary and her novenas , sewing, problem solving, painting, traveling, and gardening. Judy was extremely genuine, generous of heart, and compassionate, and she consequently sowed respect and reaped friendship. Judy is a big part of all our lives and of those she met. Yes, she will be missed, but the everlasting memories she created for us all, will always be cherished.
Judy is preceded in death by: her parents, Eustacio Del Llano and Dolores Diaz Del Llano; husband, Ramiro Soliz, Jr; daughter, Priscilla Soliz; sister, Maria Hernandez; brothers, Henry, Manuel, and David Del Llano; and great-grandchild, Guadalupe Soliz-Rocha.
