Kay Cosper

Kay (Jessie Kay) Cosper, a cherished member of the Killeen community, passed away on November 16, 2025, at the age of 94. Born and raised in Bell County, Kay was part of a family with deep roots in the region, spanning many generations.

Kay was preceded in death by husband, Charles, her son, Bud , her parents, Cleo and Lucille Whitehead, her brothers Thomas and Clyde (Jake) Whitehead. She was also preceded in death by her son in-law, John Bales.

She is survived by her children, Cathy Bales, Jim Cosper, and Glenda Land (Wendell), her daughter in law Carolyn Cosper, sister-in-law, Darlene Whitehead; and her brother, Doyle Whitehead. Kay also leaves behind eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A long-time businesswoman and interior designer, Kay was the owner of Creative Carpet and Interiors in Killeen, Texas. She was also an avid bowler for many years. Mrs. Cosper was a dedicated member of The Killeen Chapter #490 of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 70 years.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, located at 1615 South Fort Hood Road, Killeen, TX. The funeral service will take place on Friday, November 21, at 1:00 pm at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home, followed by burial at Killeen City Cemetery.
