

Kennard McKinley Allen, lovingly known as “Ken,” departed this life on March 14, 2026, at the age of 65. He was born on February 24, 1961, in Portsmouth, VA to the late Johnnie Allen and Melba Allen.
Ken was born and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia, where he attended Woodrow Wilson High School. After graduating, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country with honor for more than 20 years. Following his military service, Ken continued his career in Kentucky, where he worked as a laborer for Hendrickson for 19 years. After retirement, he relocated with his family to Killeen, TX.
Ken enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He loved watching sports and spending time enjoying classic country westerns. Football season was one of his favorite times of the year, as he was a loyal fan of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Melba Allen, and his sister, Alfreda Hall.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 32 years, Deborah Allen; his brother, Terry Allen; and his sister, Melba McEachin, both of Portsmouth, Virginia. He is also survived by his four children: Joshua Spruill of Japan, Kenniqueca Faulks of Virginia, Nicholas Allen and his wife, Melissa of New Jersey, and Nathan Allen of Texas. In addition, he leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Ken will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his years of honorable military service, and the many lives he touched throughout his journey.
