LORENE PAYTON DUNLAP
Lorene Payton Dunlap, aged 87 years, has gone to be with the Lord on September 26, 2026.
She was born on September 16, 1939 in Albany, Georgia to Dan Payton and Essie McCray, twin sister to Irene Payton, with elder siblings Joseph and Shirley Gibson.
A graduate of Monroe High School in 1957, Lorene attended nursing school until proposal of marriage from her high school sweetheart, Charles Dunlap, in the summer of 1961.
They celebrated 65 years of marriage, blessed with 3 children, Crystal Elaine, Charles Edward II, and Curtis Elliot on their life journey together.
Lorene loved being with her ‘people', from her lifelong friendships made through the years as an Army spouse, with 27 years working at Towne Services serving the public.
Faith in the Lord was the foundation in Lorene's life journey. For over 40 years Lorene loved to serve at Comanche Chapel, as a valued member of the Usher Board and Sisterhood for the Lord. She enjoyed sharing her wisdom with the youth and was always ready with a hug and encouraging word to keep moving in love.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Comanche Chapel, 52024 Tank Destroyer Blvd, Fort Hood, TX 76544, US, on October 7, 2026, at 11:00 am. A Committal Service will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, TX 76542, US, on October 7, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
