Pat was born March 17, 1935 in Dagsboro Delaware to James Manford Brittingham and Mary Elizabeth (Lewis) Brittingham, and went home to be with the Lord on February 20, 2023. Pat joined the army at 17 years of age and retired in 1976 as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 after 22 years of service. He served two tours in Vietnam, and his awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. After his retirement from the army, he obtained an ASE certification as a master mechanic/instructor, ordained minister, and licensed pilot. He utilized these certifications for numerous teaching and management positions throughout the remainder of his career. His favorite pursuits were studying his bible, history and working on vehicles of all types. In 1960, while serving at Fort Hood, he met and married the love of his life, Billie Dean Dunn, a native of Killeen, TX.
Left to treasure his memory are his wife of 62 years, Billie Brittingham; Daughters Sharron Levin and Husband Lee, La Dawn Borja and husband Joe, Valorie Brittingham, Wendy Trevino and husband David; Brothers William Brittingham II and wife Becky, Alvin Brittingham and wife Judy; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father James, his mother Mary, son Patrick, daughter Anita Kay, sister Doris LeGates, and brothers Bruce & James.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, February 24, 2023 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Bethel Church in Killeen, TX by Pastor Leland Burkett and Reverend John Abbey. Interment will follow at Live Oak Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please consider a donation to Shriner’s Hospital as Pat was a Master Mason and Shriner.
